The 23H Story (Page 68) states wrongly that the crossing took place on the 16th.

Not mentioned by name in either the 23H Story or the War Diary, the location of the Regiment was now Ranville.
 

Operation GOODWOOD

1807.40 hours. Advanced behind 2nd Fife & Forfar Yeomanry.
11.20 hours. "A" Squadron engaged from area Demouville.
12.30 hours. Action broken off and advance continued.
14.30 hours. Moved forward in support of 2nd F.F. Yeomanry north of Soliers. R.H.Q. area of Grentheville.
18.00 hours. Withdrew to cover of railway embankment at Grentheville.
11 x Other Ranks killed. Major Seymour, Captain Jones, Lieut Cochrane and 30 x Other Ranks wounded. Major Shebbeare and Lieut Pratt and 6 x Other Ranks missing.

3008.00 hours. Advanced carrying 3rd Monmouths on tanks.
11.00 hours. Held up by infantry and mines just north of Sept Vents.
14.00 hours. Moved to St Jean des Essartiers. 2 x 88 m.m.s captured.

14.00 hours. Advanced by St Martin des Besaces, Foret d'Eveque, "B" Squadron leading. Captured 2 x 105 mm guns, 6345. "B" Squadron crossed River Souleuvre at 18.00 hours followed by "C" Squadron, R.HQ and "A" Squadron.

Own vehicles lost by enemy action during July :-
14 x Shermans, 1 Motor Cycle.

Enemy vehicles (minimum losses): Destroyed :-
2 x Tigers, 8 x Panthers, 2 x S.P.s, 1 x Messerschmidt 109, 1 x F.W. 190.
