11Main body leaves Aldershot for Marshalling Area. Light party embarked Tilbury.

Operation EPSOM

26 F Echelon advanced behind 15th (S) Division. First contact with enemy by "C" Squadron at 19.00 hours. Lieut Da Cunha wounded by shrapnel at St Manvieu. 1 x Other Rank wounded. 23H Story Page 41+.

RIP DIED THIS DAY
27 07.00 hours. "A" Squadron engaged 88 m.m. guns south of Cheux. "B" and "C" Squadrons advance in support of 15th (S) Division towards Mondrainville.

12.00 hours. "B" and "C" Squadrons up to the line of the main road Caen - Villers. Held up by antis.

19.00 hours. "C" Squadron followed by "B" and half of HQ make bridgehead over River Odon at Tourmauville and harboured there. Remainder of HQ and "A" Squadron held up at Mondrainville.

Lieuts. Kerton & Weiner missing believed killed. Captain Taylor and Lieuts. Russell, Byard and Riley wounded. 16 x Other Ranks killed. 20 wounded. 12 Missing.

Of those listed as "missing": Lieuts. Kerton and Weiner and 3 x Other Ranks had been taken prisoner. Weiner was later to escape and rejoin the Regiment.

28 05.30 hours. Advance towards Point 112. "B" Squadron leading.

12.00 hours. "B" and "C" Squadrons established north half of Point 112. HQ with "A" Squadron in reserve move up. 8 x Shermans from FDS come up and put under command of "B" Squadron.

15.30 hours. Relieved on position by 3rd R.T.R. owing to shortage of ammunition. Withdrew to orchard south side of Tourmauville.

Captain R.G. Clark and Lieut Helyar killed. 2 x Other Ranks killed. 5 x Other Ranks wounded. 6 x Other Ranks missing. Lieut D.F. King suffering from exhaustion.
2 x 3-ton lorries received.

RIP DIED THIS DAY
29 13.30 hours. From orchard move forward to position south of the Cavalry at Tourmauville. Enemy counter-attack developed at 15.00 hours from the west (Area of Esquay). Beaten off by 19.00 hours.

3 x Other Ranks missing and 3 x Other Ranks wounded.
3 men had been taken prisoner.
