"After two miles of nerve-racking creeping and rushing I went round a bend and ran slap bang into two heavy German armoured cars! The crew of which were quite as surprised as me. For perhaps 6 seconds we stood there and the Boche woke up first, a 50mm shell scraped the turret and machine guns began to rattle round my ears. From that moment on I began to be a real tank commander and with the 75 I demolished both armoured cars and ran my tracks over the blood and burning wreckage.
