Charlie sustained his injuries after falling from his tank. 23H had made rapid progress in the preceeding days; the inevitable delay in transporting him to proper medical facilities possibly contributed to his death. The distance between Wolvertem, where Charlie was injured, and Rouen, where he was buried, is some 174 miles.
