Notes

Alfred's mother, Emily, waa shot dead by her next-door neighbour, Harry Morley in 1930. He committed suicide shortly afterwards. [Sevenoaks Chronicle, 13 Jun 1930].

Alfred's brother, 7962691 Pte Albert Edward Packman was KIA 16 Aug 1944. He is buried in Banneville-la-Campagne War Cemetery, Plot II. D. 6.

Although not mentioned by name, Alfred's death is described in the very last page of Bishop's Book (Page 91). My Dad remembered the incident, diving for cover under a nearby Sherman tank - from the side. A feat he was later unable to repeat as, of course, it is 'impossible'.
