"Progress was painfully slow and late on a misty afternoon we crossed the Meuse and headed roughly west again by guesswork. It was freezing mist and suddenly there was a shower of sparks as we grazed a train coming towards us. We hadn't heard or seen anything for ages. The train didn't stop but we did because poor Huxtable hit his chin on the front of his hatch and needed a dressing. The other chap didn't drive so I took over." Lt. John Steinhart, C Squadron
